I am looking at archiving the Quicken Essentials data in an Excel file and starting new the first of the year with a application like CheckBook Pro. I see no value in a subscription based service, so I refuse to by a Quick en 2018 subscription. In the mean time, I am using remote desktop to access the files on the computer running the recovered Quicken Essentials app. Moneydance is a personal finance software that feels really similar to Quicken, but it offers strong tools and features that function exactly the same for both Mac and PC users. This is why I’m so excited to do this Moneydance review.

I plan to try again, but just have not had the time to noodle through the process. One of the biggest complaints about Quicken is that it’s no good for Mac users. I was able to recover Quicken Essentials on another Mac, but the Export from Essentials on the recovered files and the import to Quicken 2007 on my Macbook did not pick up all my transactions.

Was able to install and run Quicken Mac 2007 on my Macbook Pro O/S 10.13.1, but could not import the data from the Quicken Essentials files stored on my Macbook. I purchased this version because my Quicken Essentials stopped working when I upgraded my Macbook Pro to High Sierra (Apple stopped supporting PowerPC apps). Quicken now offers connections with more than 14,500 financial institutions and 11,000 online billers.
Quicken has included more than 500 customer requested improvements and fixes. Not a good replacement for Quicken Essentials Faster investment management capability with Quicken for Windows up to three times faster.
